MAH CET 2016 analysis

Difficulty level - Medium

  • Logical Reasoning: Difficult
  • Quant: Medium lengthy
  • Verbal: Easy
  • Reading comprehension: Difficult
  • Visual Reasoning: Easy

Out of approximately 80000 candidates registered for MAH CET 16, very few people gave test on first day. As usual there were glitches but government is improving every year on making students as ease.

Answers marked by the candidates were automatically saved which was a good relief to students

Complete section wise Analysis

Logical and abstract reasoning:

First part was on logical reasoning which had 75 questions and second part was abstract reasoning which has 25 questions

LR: 75 questions

Questions were on series, statements true and false among others

AR: 25 questions

Series, arrangements, puzzles, formation of words in coded language.

So reasoning had total of 100 questions out of 200 total questions.

Verbal Ability and reading comprehension:

The number of questions this time has been reduced to 50

Verbal ability:

Questions were similar to ones asked in various other competitive exams. Questions were also on core grammar like active passive, reported speech, conditionals, modifiers.

Reading comprehension:

Passages were short. It was a bit difficult. Due to increased difficulty level this can be the game changer in terms of marks. Student who could get round 30 questions correct and can have edge over others.

Quantitative aptitude:

Quant Section:

It was easy compared to RC sections but it was lengthy. Students with clear basic concepts could solve good amount of questions.

Data Interpretation:

Data interpretation was easy but time consuming as there were more calculation based problems.

Overall medium difficulty level and similar pattern will follow for other slots. As paper is lengthy maximum students were not able to complete it. So have a proper time management and do not waste time on tricky questions.

CUT-OFFS expected for JBIMS 16

Before jumping to cut-off for 2016, let us have a look at changes and guidelines by DTE

JBIMS will not have GDPI - what will this imply ?

(A)  Get good percentile and you are through. But will go above 99.9. People with average communication skills can make to JBIMS

(B)  No past records important. If you have drops, less marks, more marks, IIT all these factors not important. You need to score high marks in MAH CET 16 and you can go through.

Again admissions and seat Division

All India admission can happen through CAT/CMAT/XAT/MAT as well. Which means seat will be again divided.

Since JBIMS is back into DTE all reservation will be applied and general category will again have only 38 seats.

Going by the level of MAH CET 2016 expected cut-offs can go a bit lower as well

  2016 (assume)
